Today was a busy day of doctors’ appointments and picking up scrips so when lunch rolled around we decided to pop into Shoney’s. Granted, we hadn’t been there since before The Flood(tm) but we figured they’d have a good variety of stuff for the three of us (Mom, Bella and myself). We went in and ordered 2 buffets (Bella eats free) and headed up to fix our plates. Boy were we surprised!

I remember when Shoney’s had a nice horseshoe-shaped buffet with chicken, fish, some sort of beef, soup, salad stuff, taco/nacho stuff, baked potatoes, fries and a large assortment of sides. This buffet was small… little salad/fruit/dessert area, fried chicken, nasty looking meatloaf, mashed potatoes with either brown or white gravy, corn, green beans, cabbage and 3 kinds of bread-type product. OH! and later they brought out liver and onions. >.<

What the crap Shoney’s? What about those people that don’t eat meat but eat fish? I mean, I’m not expecting a seafood feast but something other than fried chicken and meatloaf would be nice. Oh.. and the price was a freaking joke. $8 each, $2 for a glass of tea… even Bella’s drink (a kid’s cup with an ill-fitting lid) was $1.50.

I don’t know if they’re trying to get more people to order off the menu, in which case they need to just scrap the buffet and do nothing but a menu, or if they have ALOT of gluttons that they try to compensate for. In either case the place is a joke and we won’t be returning.

This is just a friendly reminder that I provide a number of magick/Pagan/Tarot services. Some rates can be found here but for the holiday season I want to toss out there that I’m doing Prosperity Blessings for $30, House Blessings for $100 (a HUGE discount), and 5-card Tarot Readings via email for $20. Any of these make a lovely gift.

If you are interested in any of these services (or anything else along these lines that you don’t see listed) please email me at nyteshayde@nyteshayde.com to discuss my fees or set up appointments.

On a slightly related note, if you’re into PTC stuff, I found one I’m actually trying out. If you’re interested, there’s a link below. My MeFile ID, nyzira, in the “Referral Code” will tell them I sent you.

So I never really shopped there much anyway. But here’s the deal. Mom pops into K-Mart to take a look at vacuums. She’s having a rough time walking today and needs one of those electric scooters that the stores are happy to offer their customers. We walk in and couldn’t find one at first. She finally spots one by the service desk being blocked by two employees that appear to be cart attendants. Mom heads to the cart and the “greeter” asked if she needed it… now at Walmart, this would prompt most greeters to jump over and help you get your scooter or something… at least unplug the damn thing for you. Not this guy. He stays in his happy little spot and says “Well there it is if you can get those two to move.”

o.O

So Mom politely asks the gentlemen to scooch over so she can get the scooter as she’s having a heck of a time walking today to which one of the guys says to the other “Whelp, I just LOVE how people are around here.” Mom finally gets into the scooter and starts to back out and away from the counter. Due to people rudely walking in front of and behind her, she backs between the security posts, setting off the alarm so the “greeter”, still comfortable in his seat, yells… YELLS… at Mom to get out of the doorway.

O.o

We haven’t even started shopping and I’m already disgusted with the place. They’re rude. Their prices are higher and they treat disabled people like lower-class citizens. I’m boycotting. While I didn’t feel the need to shop there very often in the first place, I will now make it a point to go out of my way to go some place OTHER THAN K-Mart or Sears (since Sears owns K-Mart and obviously carries the same feelings towards disabled customers).

And I’ve got news for you retail employees… and, well, everyone in general that needs the reminder: Not every illness is easily visible and there is not a law that requires you to be a senior citizen to ride a freaking scooter so if someone needs one, try helping them get to it than treating them like shit just because they don’t look old enough or aren’t on a walker or cane. I really don’t appreciate watching my mother being treating like that and all 3 of those people can count themselves lucky that I didn’t go off on them then and there.
